About Me

My name is Leah Damon.  I was born and raised in Minnesota.  I grew up in the church.  I was baptized when I was 10 but really accepted Christ when I was in 9th grade when I rededicated my life and started experiencing what it meant to accept Christ into my life.  I had always wanted to be an elementary school teacher so when I was a senior in High School and was called into missions I was thrown off my rocker.  I remember falling flat on my face at a convention with my youth group and being surrounded by the Holy Spirit.  I remember arguing with God and telling Him that I wasn’t going to do missions because I wanted to be a teacher.  Well, if any of you have argued with God, you know who wins… If you haven’t experienced that, I can tell you that I am going into missions and God won!  Since then, it has not been easy, I ended up at the school I NEVER EVER wanted to be at because its tiny and my dad works here, Crossroads College.  But I can tell you that the two reasons I didn’t want to come here are now my two favorite things about Crossroads!  I have been able to grow close relationships with people and the relationship with my dad has become stronger than ever.  I would never change my experiences here at school for anything. Plus, if I never came to this school I probably would not be where I am today with missions.

If you look at my posts, you will see that they are about the Philippines.  Last year my school was going to be taking a group to Cebu and the Missions professor kept asking me if I was going to go.  I was persistent that I was not going.  I didn’t even know where on the map the Philippines was or heard anything about it there.  My professor never let up on me though and after much prayer and talking to people close to me, I decided I would go.  I have never looked back.  God put all the pieces together and made my first cross-cultural missions trip one that showed me that God really does know what He’s doing and He has a plan so much bigger and greater than I could ever imagine!

Now, I am planning my second trip to the Philippines and working on learning the Cebuano language.  I cannot wait to see what God has planned for me and my life!
